In recent years, many cities have carried out the work of city lighting.It dosenot only create a good city image, enrich people’s lives, optimizing the city’sinvestment environment, but also develops commercial, tourism and serviceindustry.Thus it greatly enhances the taste of the city, strengthens the brand ofthe city, and achieves good social and economic benefits. LED screen is theprotagonist of the city lighting project.and the special-shaped LED screen isdeveloping by its flexibility and diversity.But with the rapid development ofscience and technology, the expanding application domain puts forward manynew requirements on LED screen control. The traditional control method hasbeen difficult to meet these requirements.In this paper, the target to changevideo data and apply video data to the special-shaped LED screen is established.The video data changing software and the special-shaped LED screen controlsystem based on FPGA NiosⅡsoft-core processor for the special-shaped LEDscreen are focused on.First of all, the video transformation software for the video file isdeveloped by Delphi, which is based on Object Pascal language. This softwarecan extract every pieces of picture in the video files. It is able to directly extractthe video file data on each pixel for LED matrix screen. At the same time, forthe special-shaped LED screen, special-shaped screen line software is designed.The special-shaped screen line software can extract the pixel data from videofiles in accordance to the actual line of the special-shaped screen. By using thissoftware, video files can be applied to the special-shaped LED screen. In orderto meet the needs of large amount of video data, multi-serial port and rapidprocessing, control system uses high-performance field programmable logicarray FPGA chip as EP1C6Q240to be the core of the hardware system. In orderto achieve off-line control of special-shaped LED screen, long-distancetransmission and multi-serial port control, control system contains CF module, ethernet module, multi-serial port module and other peripheral module. Theseperipheral circuits and FPGA chips constitute the system’s hardware platform.In addition, for creating a complete embedded system, this design createsNiosⅡsoft-core processor to take place of hard-core processor by SOPC Builder,and uses IP cores to design peripheral modules. This design reduces system costand increases flexibility of the system. At last, using NiosⅡ IDE developmentplatform to design the software.The design achieves the purpose of video data transformation and itsapplication on special-shaped LED screen.It meets the needs of off-line controland long-distance transmission.It will be more flexible and diversified in theapplication.
