Since the birth of traditional analog video surveillance system, video surveillance system has experienced rapid development and change,and now this area is in the all-digital processes. The digital controlled analog video surveillance products and digital video surveillance products in the domestic, which can still huge room for development and improvement, especially in improving the quality of surveillance video images and video data transmission interface implementation and improvement and so on. Meanwhile, with the development of large-scale programmable chip technology, FPGA-based SOPC technology in recent years has become an effective electronic system design method, the system processor (soft core or hard core), storage devices, general-purpose I/O and other modules which needed in the electronic system connected through an FPGA, or together form an integrated system on a chip in the sopc technology, and in accordance with the design requirements, the system can be cut or expand and with software and hardware in-system programming capabilities. Taking into account the obvious advantages of SOPC technology in the system the flexibility, processing speed, and the development cycle, this design will use SOPC technology in the video surveillance system design, so the original monitoring video system can be improved.The context is a study in the above work, begins from the video surveillance system development status, using sopc technology, forcus on how to improve video image quality and offer effective image preprocessing method, and combinate the research of IEEE 1394 standard protocol, provide an interface design that proposed for video system. There are introduces of the fpga-based sopc technologies, including the application of soft-core NiosII in the second chapter after the introduction; after that, the further research forcus on the video image enhancement for the monitoring and transmission, it related to filter design program and 1394 interface; there are the overall program and the video processor control unit design in the third chapte, the forth chapter is the detailed design of each module, and the details form in the program are given in hardware description languages, port list, RTL-level block diagram. Finally, the test results and data analysis of the simulation of main modules will be given, and end with a Summary.The design applied the sopc technology into the video surveillance system, and used image preprocessing mechanisms to improve the video image quality, and the study and design of 1394 interface program are aimed at improving the performance of surveillance video system, all these have practical value.
