With the second generation of identity cards issued roundly in China, ID card readers widely used in public security, civil aviation, and banking systems. Second -generation ID card is one kind of contactless integrated card combining radio frequency identification technology and IC card technology, which has operated fast, and strong anti-interference, high security, and other features. RF technology is an independent, interdisciplinary field, which combines high-frequency technology, electromagnetic compatibility, semiconductor technology, data protection, and other fields. Its appearance and development have driven and will further drive the revolution of modern people's paying style and it will be more and more widely used in non-financial areas. Also it will lead to a conceptual revolution of human being's further life style by which RF Smart Card is one of the important, convenient tools in 21st century.Card readers of contactless integrated card are the pivotal device in application system of contactless IC card. Based on the practical project, the subject of the development of second-generation ID card reader, which is for identification and information management was put forward. The subject contains hardware and application software research and design.Based on the study of non-contact IC card and radio frequency technology at home and abroad, first of all, several aspects of contactless IC are be introduced characteristics, types, international standards, technical principles, key technologies. On this basis, introduced radio frequency identification technologies, including radio frequency system and the working principles, as well as the main technical applications. In the design of the hardware circuit, brief introductions of the ID card reader system structure, single chip circuit, RF circuit and the external circuit in the reader module are described. Some of these circuits are given.The design of software is most important and innovative. The subject put award the design principles and architecture of the reader software firstly. Then it analyzed and designed the main module, including support for USB communications interface, IDR terminal, the interface of main function, terminal synchronization management, backup management and virtual list display module. On this basis, voice broadcast function was developed.At the end, it is the summary advantages and disadvantages of the design.
