Magnetic stripe card is a kind of card which uses magnetic carrier such as magnetic stripe to record information for identification or for other purposes. It needs to be used with a card reader for reading its information. Due to the low cost and easy to use, magnetic stripe cards are extensively used in finance, commerce, communication, security, negotiable securities and other fields. In magnetic stripe card technology, the key device is magnetic card reader and writer, wherein the reader is more important.The traditional magnetic stripe card needs to be used with a huge card reader, such as ATM or POS machine. However, with the development of mobile internet technology, the traditional large readers have been unable to meet the requirement of "mobile" terminal. Therefore, from the perspective of "mobile", this paper introduces the design of magnetic stripe card reader in a financial terminal. Furthermore, to modularize the function of the magnetic stripe card and adapt to our country’s future development, especially to increase the function of reading contactless IC card.After introducing the basic structure and working principle of the magnetic card and contactless IC card, this thesis mainly analyzes the realization of the hardware circuit, the software design and the flow chart of the procedure. In line with the principle of low cost and low power consumption, NANO120LE3BN is choosed as the main chip, SSTM093C as the dual track magnetic head and MFRC52301HN1as the RF (Radio Frequency) chip. When swiping the card from the slot of the card reader, the magnetic head in the reader will get the information recorded in the magnetic card. By decoding, the master chip stores the decoded information to be read in into memory. The hardware circuit mainly adopts the modularized design idea which consists of five parts:magnetic head module, master module, contactless RF module, ISO7816contact module and power supply changeover module. The program runs in the way of loop with interruption which is embodied in, receiving the protocol commands in the interruption processing the protocol commands, keeping connection and sending responses in the loop. Finally, this paper describes the debugging and testing of the magnetic card reader according its function, mainly investigating the debugging of the success rate of swiping card and the match of antenna, and some corresponding testing results.
