The Research And Application Of Radio Frequency Card Reader

The radio frequency card reader is the important device of the radio frequency card application system. This paper introduces the design of the radio frequency card reader based on MF RC500 radio frequency station chip and AT89C52 MCU, and it also tells how the reader, combined with the management software which is designed on the master computer, carries on the Lab rating management system.Firstly, the paper introduces the makeup and important technology of the radio frequency identification system, and the Philips' Mifare card including its characteristics, work principle, internal structure, operation of internal EEPROM memory, etc. Then, it introduces the hardware and software design of the radio frequency card reader in detail. The hardware design mainly includes MCU control module design, radio frequency module design, serial communication module design, and vocal announcement module design, etc. The software design covers the basic operation program design of the radio frequency station chip RC500, the operation program design of the radio frequency card and the communication program design concerning the radio frequency card reader and the master computer, etc. The paper elaborates on how to use MSComm serial communication controller and ADO database access technology in Visual C++. At last it finishes Lab rating management system design by the application of the reader. This system implements the following functions: managing the basic information of the card owner, managing the charge on computer, counting time on computer, monitoring the running state of computers and so on, which is significant to the standardization of the Lab management.The experiment result indicates that the maximal communication distance between the reader of this system and the radio frequency card is 7cm, which has satisfied the demand of practical application. The system has some characteristics such as security, reliability etc. After slight alteration, the system could be applied to the door access system, one-card-through in school and public traffic charging system, etc, and it has immense potential and a brilliant future in the application field.
