At now, home networking devices that provide the only configuration interface and management interface in the local area network (LAN), the operator's need to install or debugging equipment to customer house in person. This way is obviously not high efficiency, and spend a lot of manpower. With the home network in the business, there will be a lot of equipment needing to rehouse the user's home. If using artificial methods, equipment maintenance and management will become a huge burden.The CPE WAN Configuration Management Protocl is the emergence to solve problems. It provides the General Framework and Protocol of home network equipment that manage Gateway and Router and Set Top Box from the Wide Area Network (WAN). It is mainly composed of two styles logic devices: the Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) and Auto-Configuration Server (ACS). In the home network environment, the user equipment configuration and management which all users and other related equipment operation, diagnosis, upgrading and so on, can be automatically complete by ACS from WAN side.This article analysis on the contents of the protocol, the component of protocol stack, the main function of the protocol and the protocl of the interactive process, and get the design principles and ideas of the protocol, and gives the design of each module and the delineation of the sub-module in detail. Implementation of the key modules of the flow chart, the necessary interface and data structure give the detail analysis, to comply with the protocol request.Finally, the article has made some projections and forecasts on the development of the protocol.
