With the high speed development of China's modernization, the number of vehicles has an unprecedented growth. And the traffic problem that was brought along is demanding prompt solution. Developing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) can solve this problem effectively, among which real-time transportation system is the major content. Real-time transportation system can provide real-time transportation information and guide vehicles, and thus effectively solve traffic jam problem and resources and environment problems along with it. Meanwhile, widely use of GPS navigation brings great convenience to our trip. However, traditional static navigation is unable to plan path according to real-time road condition information. Thus, design and development of navigation terminal equipment that can receive real-time transportation information and realize dynamic navigation become an important task.In this thesis, terminal equipment that can receive real-time transportation information is designed. The terminal equipment is based on S3C2440 processor of Samsung Corporation and Windows CE 5.0 embedded OS. It receives satellite positioning systems signal and real-time transportation information by GPS与GPRS modules separately. After analysis and treatment by real-time transportation navigation software, real-time transportation information is displayed on the electronic map, and according which, dynamic navigation is realized.This thesis first introduces structure and function of real-time transportation system and principle of navigation terminal in receiving real-time transportation information. Discusses principle of real-time navigation terminal and introduces knowledge of embedded system and GPRS involved. In chapter 2, whole design scheme of terminal system is given after analysis of function need of terminal, including hardware architecture and type selection of main modules. Embedded operating system is also analyzed and selected. In chapter 3, Windows CE 5.0 operating system is described in detail. And Windows CE operating system is customized and ported into the embedded system according to the hardware platform used. Developments of Boot Loader and OAL layers are mainly discussed. It makes Windows CE 5.0 operating system operate normally in the terminal. In chapter 4, communication function is realized based on Windows CE 5.0 operating system. Adjustment of SIM300 module and installation and measurement of navigation software is mainly fulfilled. Firstly, debugging tasks of SIM300 are listed according to the function of real-time transportation navigation software. Then, AT instruction is used to realize serial interface connection and adjustment, measurement of receiving and sending short messages, dial-up and data transmission. And EVC is used to design a program that can realize UDP transmission. It proves that the terminal have the ability to receive real-time transportation information. Finally, installation and measurement of real-time transportation navigation software is completed. It enables the terminal to connect the server to receive real-time transportation information and realize dynamic navigation.Eventually, work in designing terminal system is summarized and future improvement of real-time navigation terminal is prospected.
