Recently, the employment of RFID technology is becoming more widely. Especially, as smart devices become much smaller and more powerful, mobile RFID application domain grows up in high speed, with the application domain becoming wider. And mobile or mini-type RFID devices are applied for people much more than before. However there lack of platform to support for these RFID device of miniaturization which have to work for enterprise information system or for integration with RFID application efficiently. In addition, diversity of mobile RFID hardware, limitation of resource and constrain on process capability of mobile or mini-typed device, the problems caused by RFID data transportation, resource conflicts caused by collaboration of multi-terminal in mobile RFID application, and efficient solutions for diversity mobile RFID applications'integration create big challenges to applications and development of mobile RFID technology.Based on these requirements and challenges, this paper proposes a RFID middleware system oriented to mobile application. This middleware system includes integration solutions of mobile RFID hardware, collection and processing on mobile RFID data, communication methods between mobile RFID terminals and backend system, and services on mobile RFID business access control. Moreover this paper also puts forward a RFID service framework which can be deployed on mobile or mini-typed devices. It can be used for an implementation method on the devices aspect of mobile RFID middleware. We effectively solve the deployment problem of mobile RFID application in limited hardware resource and constrained bandwidth of wireless network.This paper analyses developments and drawbacks of mobile computing technology, mobile RFID technology and mobile RFID technology in domestic and oversea. And then we put forward new requirements for mobile RFID middleware. Furthermore, based on the whole architecture of our mobile RFID middleware, with the RFID data flow in mobile RFID application as a main line, we carry out the conception of virtual intellectual reader, use Smoothing algorithm for RFID event generation, MRARule to define the approach of message notifications and report formats, and tree-structure, rule classifying based resource access control mechanism to prevent confliction caused by collaboration of multi-terminal in mobile RFID application. At last, we implement the device aspect of mobile RFID middleware with RFID service framework on the OSGi platform.
