Radio frequency identification technology (RFID) is an automatic identification using radio frequency signals to obtain information from object technology. With the developement of technology, RFID was used in many fields, and it is widely used in various aspects of daily life. Research and Application of RFID middleware for RFID technology has played a role in helping the development of RFID.RFID can provide information systems with effective and reliable label information, thus improving system efficiency and quality. The current PC-oriented RFID middleware technology is relatively mature and has achieved relatively good results.With the development of mobile computing technology, the mobile devices's processing capabilities and applications continue to increase.Using RFID middleware technology in mobile devices will be more and more popular. Using RFID middleware technology in mobile device not only increasingly attracts people's attention, but also exerting grave challenge to the development of RFID technology's applications.This paper analyzes the basic theory, research and development status and trends relateing to the domestic and international RFID middleware, mobile RFID middleware technology. Based on which it further analyzes the characteristics of RFID middleware and the shortcomings of RFID middleware applications. This paper provides a three-tier model of RFID middleware system called SMM (Sea Mobile Middware).SMM not only can be used in the PC, but also can be compatible with mobile devices. SMM can expand the technology in PC to the mobile device, so it can make full use of limited resources of various mobile devices. Based on the abstract ideas.The SMM upper level applications can use UI and the Web interface to control and manage mobile devices effectively by abstrcting RFID devices into objects. SMM provides data synchronization functions, which can guarantee integrality of the datas transfering in the asynchronous communication system.Simulation experiments and application testing of SMM system proved that SMM can make full use of intelligent devices's limlit resources, and reduce the upper application's resource consumption, thus improving system efficiency. Moreover.The testing in the PC also showed good stability. The data loss rate is almost zero with a large number of threads sending data to system. The entire system has proved to be stable and scalable.
