UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter) is a widely used serial transmission protocol. Generally speaking, asynchronous serial interface used in peripheral is realized by the ASIC. These chips generally contain many auxiliary modules, but it often does not require the integrity functions and auxiliary functions of the UART. The need is to integrate the functions of UART into the interior of the FPGA not use the chip while the design is used in FPGA. Bluetooth host controller interface is the control component to realize the interoperability between a host device and Bluetooth module. When using the Bluetooth devices, especially during the monitoring sites, interface controllers play a crucial role on control the data transmission to the computer.A module of control interface for Bluetooth HCI-UART (Host Controller Interface-Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter) is designed in this paper, aimed at the development of information technology and the actual needs in the process of developing. Using VHDL to integrate the functions of its core, it not only can be used alone but also can be integrated into a system-on-chip, and the whole design is compact, stable and reliable, which have a wide range of use so have a certain value. This design uses TOP-DOWN design method, and divides it into UART interface and Bluetooth host controller interface of two parts. Firstly, according to the design principle and the indicator of the UART and Bluetooth host controller interface for system design, the system is divided into several modules with confirming the signal connections between each module. Then it proceeds to design a modular design feature of each module, and using VHDL language to write code. Afterward, it implements module functions by using ISE8.2I onboard simulator on the module function simulation and timing simulation. Finally it does hardware verification in the Virtex- II board of functional verification system. Implementation of the transmission, receiving, baud rate generation and other functions, the test results indicate the design to be correct, the function to be good, accord with the requirements of the design.
