A Study Of TOPSIS-based Grading Methods For Social Science Work

The purpose of carrying out social scientific works evaluation is to promote the exchange of academic thoughts, to establish scientific standards, and to direct the research. But in the process of evaluation, how to ensure its impartiality and equality is the key issue to be solved. The current ways to assess social scientific works are qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis and multi-norm integrative analysis. But this thesis puts forward TOPSIS - a multi-norm integrative approach to evaluate social scientific works. TOPSIS is an efficient multi-norm quantitative evaluation way which can display the evaluation results in a sequencing way, and its advantage is the easiness in computing and the sound result.The thesis is divided into four parts to explore TOPSIS methods.The first part is to introduce the research background. It first offers the introduction of the research's purpose, significance, organizing thought and ways. Then a review of the present evaluation ways of social scientific works and a survey of the current study on TOPSIS are presented.In the second part, the thesis first discusses the construction of social scientific works evaluation norms and the choice of weighty elements involved in the evaluation norms. Then it gives a detailed introduction to the rationale of TOPSIS. Finally, a TOPSIS-based evaluation model for social scientific works is built with four Grade-1 norms and eleven Grade-2 norms by way of Deplehi method,Double- dimensional quantum to determine the weighty elements.And in part 3, an example from a university is cited to verify the feasibility of TOPSIS-based evaluation model. Further analyses are also given to prove the feasibility and reliability of the model by comparing the model's result with the vote result from the university's academic committee.The last part is to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of TOPSIS method. Also the new insights and the shortcomings of the thesis are brought forward for further study. And if reasonable evaluation norms and elements are selected and determined, TOPSIS-based evaluation model can be applied to other education managing fields.
