Research On The Image Of Women's History, Status Quo And Development In Chinese Newspapers Reports

The thesis sketches the track of the evolution of the women's image in the newspaper news reports of our country for over 50 years on the whole, and attempts to probe into its characteristics and causes with the methods of analyzing the content and as well as going though the history. It mainly analyzes three different kinds of newspapers from 1950 to 2006 ,namely "People's Daily"," Chinese Women's Weekly"," The Southern City". According to this, the thesis has been analyzed the existing problems and the corresponding settlement tactics in women's news reports instantly emphatically in order to offer an new point of view about news reports on women.The subjects ,methods, aims and significance are pointed out in the introduction.The body is divided into three parts.The first chapter reviews the development of women's image in the newspapers reports after the foundation of China . With the foundation of New China and the emergence of women's liberation movement. Chinese women are promoted to an unprecedented level in the history. But another problem is brought to women's development, because of one-sided emphasis on " the gender equality" and "women's liberation". The female gender consciousness has been obscured from the socialist era of the " new" image in the 50s and 60s to "political symbols" during the culture revolution. The media image of women is used at the ideological and social development, and is dissimilated into " empty signifier ". With the emergence of diverse social life and the expansion of female survival after the reform and opening up, The media image of women changed her usual monotone, empty characteristics and is replaced by the coexistence of multiple image of the new pattern. Some typical representation of the female image has to be specifically analyzed, and women can be seen rising from the conceptualization, image mode towards the direction of true and diverse women.The second chapter, on the basis of the preceding analysis, summarized the characteristics of the evolution of the women's image in newspapers reports: "singularity" to the diverse characteristics of the women's image changes, the decline of women's "political symbol" and the return of women's self-recognition. Combination the theories of Journalism communication and media culture, the thesis explained in depth the reasons for changing the image of women in the media, and further pointed out that these changes are influenced by both political and economic, cultural and social environment, and the change of the concept of the news media, and also has a close relationship with the change of women's concept in society.The third chapter points out the difficulties in news reports on women's image between subversion and construction over the past 50 years ,which are "pan-politicization" in news reports ,emerging problems during the social transition, and "the absence "of women's image in news reports .Because of these problems, the media image of women is marginalized and twisted, and it is far from the real situation of women living. In light of these problems, the Construction of women's words right in the news media and real life is proposed in this paper in order to promote the mass media to make an objective and fair coverage on women.The conclusion has made the summary and the outlook to the text. And the shape of the women's media image closely related to the women's development. Only through the effort of the entire society ,the true gender equality can be constructed in the media and even the entire social culture.
