Research Of Library Resource Integration After Universities Have Been Merged

It appears that library resource has increased and human resource has enlarged after universities have been merged. But users' needs have changed, bibliography data-record of former libraries differs from each other, the same organization of library exists in a school and many libraries exist in multi-campus. Library resource integration is now an imorptant task which must be considered and settled by university libraries.Firstly, this paper studys the case of merged university libraries in Nanjing about library resource utilization and suggestions which users fed back. This paper chooses libraries of three universities in Nanjing as case studies. This paper collects data through the method of questionnaires, network investigation and face-to-face visit and analyzes it from different levels and aspects with data-mining method. This paper analyzes resource utilization and services which users want library to develop. The study also points out the methods of developing resource utilization ratio which users can accept.Secondly, a scheme of library resource integration after universities have been merged has been pointed out through literature search and analyzation. Our study has established the management mode "General and Branch library System as well as specialty library" for the library after comparing one library system, decentralized library system and general and branch library system considering the particularity of college and department reference room. The mode sets up organization of library with fewer departments and introduces some human resource management method. This paper then discusses how to merge hardware resources from server, Internet and storage aspects. This paper has established the standards of how to choose library automatization system and evaluates them. This paper has pointed out the detailed method of how to merge paper and digital library resources of different libraries including getting rid of old books, using the same call number, collocating the paper resources of muti-campus, choosing and purchasing databae, merging digital resource based on OPAC, setting up a navigation system of digital resources and choosing multi-database search system and so on. And this paper has studied the special service "loan and return of multi-campus" which exsited in libraries of multi-campus and points out the ameliorating method after surveying the libraries of universities listed in the national "211 project".This study systemicly analyzes the scheme of library resource integration after universities have been merged probing into the theory and practice.This paper will provide a meaningful aspect for the construction of resource integration of merged universities and resource sharing of multi-campus libraries.
