News informer rose in the 1990's. As a new kind of occupation, its occurrence Results in the fierce competition from media. And the population of several kinds of City paper made the insufficient news source scarcer. How to get the reporting of a news item obtained ahead of one's competitors in limited news sources? How to attract more audience? And how to gain the media market? These become questions that make many chief editors headache. So nearly all the medias choose to increase the number of social news. On the one hand, social news involved a great deal of sudden occurrence in various trades and professions, whereas limited reporters couldn't have enough energy to discover every one of them, so at this moment, news informers began to come into play. On the other hand, news informers depend on the media because of competitions. They get paid for their hardworking of providing news resources. The relationship between the two gives me the idea to think about the cause of formation of the news informers, and its background and development, and also its influence on the media.Most things have two handles. It has been giving both positive and negative effect to the development of the society and news profession. Of course, we can neither ignore the presence of news informer, nor can we fuss about it. We should give it a thorough and impartial perspective. Then, it means very much beyond science for the well-order competition and the promotion of competitiveness of media to explain the phenomenon in theory, especially with the violent competition of media and the upgrade of heavy awards for news informer as backgrounds.This thesis makes research macroscopically and microscopically through the combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis. We collects material through literature analysis, sample spot-check, emphasis interview, etc. This thesis consists of seven parts.The first part is forward. It introduces aims, frame and methodologies.The second part gives a logic orientation of news informer as a social role based on its definition and classification through the contrast among freelance writers, reporters and correspondents.The third part analyses the background of new informers in four aspects: audience's political democracy, information commercialization of market economy, the influence of law and technique.The fourth part researches the evolvement of news informers and indicates their differences between in china and western countries.The fifth part discusses both positive and negative influence upon the media ecology because of the appearance and development of news informers and proposes a new scientific type of news source system.The last part raises problems brought by the appetence of news informer and proposes news informer system that suits to the country's actual conditions.
