With the development of virtual reality and computer graphics,simulating plants in the nature on computer had become a hot topic.Presently, tree simulation mainly focuses on the realistic of simulated tree,however, the research on tree's biological characteristics and environment'sinfluence on tree growth during the simulation is relatively less.According to the characteristics of tree simulation in virtual forest, thethesis uses L-system to describe the tree's structure and combines botanyknowledge and the specific environment factors' influences on tree growth.With that work, this thesis creates Virtual Tree Model based onEnvironment Influence to implement tree simulation.The thesis's main studies are as follows:1. Study the theory and implementation process of L-system. CreateVirtual Tree Model based on Environment Influence by organically integrating L grammar, botany knowledge and environment influence.Design L grammar for monopodial tree to simulate the tree growth andimplement the model.2. On the basis of L grammar, use the methods of botany predictingformula and historical data abstract to implement the parameterization oftree growth and then mapping them to the model in order to implement thecommunication between botany knowledge and tree simulation.3. Use dynamic weighted mapping method to calculate environmentinfluence coefficients, which oriented to different tree organs, byabstracting different environment factors and their influences on treegrowth. Then implement the communication between environmentinfluence and tree simulation.4. The thesis implements the prototype system of tree simulationbased on environment influence with the model referred above.The thesis focuses on integrating botany knowledge and environmentinfluence on the basis of studying relevant methods of tree simulation.During that process, the thesis makes studies on previous work, invents andimproves some methods, furthermore, provides foundations to theupcoming work of virtual forest simulation.
