The embedded system is a production that converge various techniques, including computer technique, semiconductor technique, electronics technique and actual application of all of these industrial. This trait determines that it is an intellect integration system of technology and capital intensive, but dispersive greatly industry. In 1990', drove by demand on distributed control, flexible manufacturing, digital communication and information home appliances, the embedded system is greatly enhanced. special OS for various embedded system are emerging day by day, such as VxWorks,pSOS,PalmOS,Windows CE,Embedded Linux. Along with application of these OS and maturity of technology, many application products, such as PDA, handset PC, set top boxes, intellective telephone, intellective terminal, automobile mini-computer system with GPS, emerge in application field. Now, the embedded system is penetrated many aspects of daily life, including science research, engineering design, military technology, business and culture art, entertainment.MMS, which is abbreviation of Multimedia Messaging Service, is a new service developed according to 3GPP and WAP forum standard. The important character of it is supporting multimedia. The data rate is increased to 384kbps. Under support of GPRS or cdma2000 1X, MMS can transfer video segment, picture, audio and text message. Furthermore, it can support many high-rate data service (such as voice, Internet browse, Email, video conference), implement end-to-end instant communication for mobile telephone and multimedia information transmission between mobile telephone and Internet.This research aims to realize a remote control system that is based on the embedded Linux and MMS service carried on GPRS network. The system utilizes ARM Linux as OS and MC35i as the GPRS communication module, implements remote control by accessing GPRS network, taking pictures against the remote object, encapsulating the picture into MMS and transmitting the MMS.1 have finished tasks as follows:(1) Researching on MMS encapsulation and transmission principle, GPRS architecture and WAP protocol;(2) Learning on the basic knowledge and development flow of the embedded system;(3) Porting ARM Linux to the embedded system development board;(4) Porting PPP protocol to board;(5) Designing software architecture and implementing software coding...
