Along with the economic development of our country, the demand of coal mine resources has continuous increased. This situation made great pressure on coal mine exploitation, at the same time, the problem of base equipment's get behind and safe produce weakness became more and more distinctness. Recent year, coal mine accident occurs in our country at high frequency, makes huge person fatality and bring great losing in economy. Consequently coal mine safety has become an urgence problem in our country.In coal mine safety problem, gas strength is one of an important safety inspection factors. This paper analysis the coal mine safety actuality in our country and foreign countries first, then analysis the characteristic of coal mine gas inspect system, combined with wireless sensor network, have an idea of a coal mine gas inspect system based on wireless sensor network. Then divide the system into two parts: the one is gather and transfer system, the other is inspect and manage system, at last, confirm the gather and transfer system as the design goal of this paper.Based on the design demand of gather and transfer system have an achieve measure is fixed node and mobile node. Then design the hardware and software for these two kinds of nodes. Hardware design thinks from its function, establish a hardware model contains sensor module , controller module, wireless communication module and power supply module. Choose chips and design circuit for each module, at last create the hardware circuit principle chart and PCB chart. Software design also thinks from its function, establish a software model contains gas data gather and dispose module and gas data transfer module. Design each module's achieve flow, thinking and designing carefully for each module. Analysis and design the route protocol in the gas data transfer module, bring forward a wireless sensor network route protocol used in coal mine, and test the protocol's function. At last summarize the job in this paper and prospect the foreground of wireless sensor network in vaster domain.First, this paper bring forward a whole new design thinking of coal mine gas inspect system. Based on the thinking, bring forward hardware model and software model, choose route protocol suit for coal mine using. All of these are new and characteristic in domain of coal mine gas inspect system in our country. It can provide considerable useful reference for research of coal mine gas inspect system in our country.
