Wireless sensor network is a technology which is widely used, it can help people realize the world around us. The characteristics of wireless sensor network are random-distributing, self-organization and environment-adapting, it has wide application fields and high using value in military, environment, medical, home and other business fields. As the rapid development of sensor technology, wireless communication network, computer technology, wireless sensor network gradually gets the focus from the industrial and academe.This thesis has introduced the development of the traditional Wireless Sensor Network, then analyzed the principle and framework of the mine monitoring system. Based on the wireless communication protocol stack of OSI reference model, this paper introduced the realization of physics layer, data chain layer, network layer and application layer. A new MAC protocol has been introduced in this paper. The channel is divided into a control channels and many data channels. Each node is assigned a data channel on the control channel ,it detects carrier and receives data on its data channel. We use a routing protocol based on minimum hop on network layer, it introduced the process of setting up minimum hop field in detail. In the end, this paper has summarized the preceding work and points out the problems which should be solved in the future. It looks forward to the development of mine monitoring system by using wireless sensor networks in the future.
