Research And Application Of The Workflow Based On J2EE & Web Services

In the recent years, with the development of the standardization of companies' management and the growth of their size, the companies do not merely confine themselves to particular areas or countries. Hence, the success of every company relies on good cooperation of its staff and individual departments. Moreover, the management of company is not only the management of information but also the management of the workflow. Consequently, the present author introduces workflow, which can greatly enhance the efficiency of working and minimize the cost. Thereby, the company's flexibility and adaptability can be fostered.Workflow, focusing on the automation of the procedures in daily life, enables people to classify individual tasks into different models that have been defined in advance, which manages these models on the basis of certain principles and processes. This kind of technology mirrors the approach of the separation of the procedure logic and application logic.The combination of the technology of the Web service and the workflow meet the versatile requirement of people from all works of life. The flexibility of Web Service can promote the workflow system's expansibility and compatibility, so it can satisfy their customers'various demands. The thesis starts from the introduction of several concepts concerning workflow. Then it proceeds to the illustration of the combination of workflow and Web services , presents a model based on the theories of workflow that serves the Web service, on which a detailed illustration of the workflow system's design is demonstrated. Then, it concentrates on a project related to intelligent mansions,in which J2EE as well as workflow is applied, including the designs of the workflow's model, workflow engine and related data base. Web design pattern of Struts framework, which is based on J2EE MVC model, is adopted to design the whole system. It can split the application into business module, application controlling module and data displaying module efficiently without worrying about coupling problems, and improve flexility of the application, then develop the system in an orderly way. It is also convenient for integration , maintenance and upgrade . In the end, this thesis introduces one example of the application of workflow system in the maintenance of the intelligent mansions.This thesis, combining the Web Service and traditional workflow system, improves the traditional workflow system via the flexibility of Web Service and extends the application of the traditional workflow system, which makes the companies'service more convinient.
