Modeling Tool And Workflow Engine Based On J2EE Platform Of The Workflow Management System Flowstep

With the development of network technologies, many application fields oninformation management based upon networks have emerged and tended to be mature.E-commerce, E-affairs for government, office automatism (OA) and enterprisesinformation system have become the focal points of the applications on ManagementInformation Systems (MIS). In these fields, Business Process Management (BPM) isa common concerned problem. Different application fields contain different businessrequirements, and with the evolution of the application environments, correspondingbusiness processes may be changed. Therefore, introducing the concept of workflowinto MIS and making the MIS possess the capabilities of auto-adaptability andreconfiguration are rather important. This paper introduces a Web-based distributed WFMS —— Flowstep, andanalyses the problem and unfinished task of the first phase. The introduction of howto solute these problem and accomplish the unfinished task is the primary part of thispaper.The first part of this paper has introduced the technology of WorkflowManagement(WFM), XML technology, J2EE and JMS technology, and the basicknowledge of the application server and the WebLogic server. Then, it describes theworkflow management system – flowstep and give the solution of its problems.The main of this paper consists of the introduction of the ,model design tools andthree new engine. This make flowstep become a real product, instead of being only ademo.In the conclusion part of this paper, the limitations and research directions of thissystem have been explained.
