Geographical Information System (GIS), which is in charge of collecting, storing,managing, describing and analyzing spatial distribution related data, has experienceda development over 40 years and has already entered a diversified phase. Especiallyafter 1990s, the rapid development of the internet has also driven the developmentfrom GIS to WebGIS. WebGIS is a combination of GIS technology and Internettechnology, its application fields expand from expert system to all aspects of society,now WebGIS has become a popular information tool. As popularization of theresearch and application of WebGIS, the traditional method of realizing WebGIShasn't been fit for the development of WebGIS, because it is difficult to share andinteroperate the spatial data, and there exists contradiction between distributingproperty and system structure of WebGIS. So it is important to research the structureand realization of WebGIS platform which is interoperable, transplantable, expansibleand fit for various platforms.J2EE is an architecture that makes use of Java 2 platform to simplify thedevelopment, deployment, management of enterprise solution and some relevantproblems. J2EE architecture provides an n-tier framework to satisfy applicationrequirements with low cost, high usability, high reliability and extensibility. Byproviding uniform development platform, J2EE reduces expenditure and complexityof developing an n-tier application and at the same time J2EE supports integrationwith current application strongly. Developing WebGIS using J2EE can fully show itsadvantages, and implements a WebGIS application with n-tier, modularization,extensibility, easy-migration and high independence of platform.This thesis introduces the development state of domestic and overseas,development trends, compute model and implement methods of WebGIS; discussesJ2EE system structure and pivotal WebGIS technology, such as storage and display ofspatial data; builds WebGIS system frame based on J2EE, deeply researches OracleSpatial, integrates storage and management of spatial data and attribute data, introduces MapXtreme for Java's relevant technology and realization method. finallydesigns and implements GIS module of supervise system of Guangdong provinceaccording to user's requirements.
