With the expansion of the scale of the port, the organizations of the port tend to complex. It has become difficult for sound decision-making for the traditional way of production that relies on human and people's experiences. For the reason it becomes more and more important to realize the port information by computer to help for production control. Based on the first management information system of port, it needs to strengthen the management of yards. The first edition through the traditional show manages and maintains the yards. Because of large amounts of data, not visual, it is easy to make mistakes. If we can use GIS, using computer to realize the creating, modifying, maintaining of the yard map and controlling the flow by means of graphics, will greatly reduce costs and workload.Original port management information system has been used mature framework-Struts, has separated show logic, business logic and processing logic, but for the data layer still following the traditional way DAO + JDBC + Database, has produced a large number of SQL statements. This thesis improves on the original system, introduced persistent data layers in Struts framework and using hibernate visit database will solve the problems of complex coding and a great deal maintenance. Without changing the structure of the original system, the framework has become Struts + DAO + hibernate + Database. With spatial database development, attribute data and spatial data can be to storage wholly. Using the software of MapXtreme for Java for the map server can simplify the calculation, inquiry of spatial data and the show of the results. Through the research, analysis and testing, the design of general model of WebGIS has been put forward, this model can take full advantage of all the technical advantages, and achieve multi-level, modular, extensible and easy to transplant and strong independence.At last this thesis discusses how to using this general model of the WebGIS to realize the transformation of port information system, and has an in-depth study and exploration of transformation of this system. In response to user needs, the modules of generated and maintenance yard maps, the information of cargo types, the arrangement for spaces, historical data exported, enquiries of map, feature statistics have been added,the visualization management has been realized successfully. At the same time the feasibility of this general model also is tested.
