SSRS (Single Stage Reaction Sequenced) ISOCRACKING unit is a new building Hydrocrack program of West Pacific Petrochemical Co. Ltd at Dalian, China. Its process presented by Chevron Lummus Global is the most advanced technology in petrochemical industry. Because this production unit is rather complex and hard to be operated, a rigorous and real-time simulation system is necessary to assist the process design engineer, optimize the control system and train the operators. It has important meaning to help starting up and maintain the smooth running of Hydrocrack unit.Based on the simulation technology of chemical industry and analysis of the Hydrocrack production process, the whole Hydrocrack simulation system was developed. The following work has been done:1. The whole process of Hydrocrack production was introduced and the SSRS ISOCRACKING process was analyzed specially, which supplied the necessary physical flow of the simulation system;2. The required hardware system and software system were constructed, including the MiMiC process simulation platform and DeltaV DCS control system platform. And it is the first to use MiMiC simulation software to set up large-scale industry simulation system in China;3. According to material balance and energy conservation principle, the mechanism models of heat exchanger, reactors, fractionators were built. For reactors and fractionators process which mechanism models are complex, data analysis and estimation of real plant system were used to assist the modeling and parameters tuning;4. The effect of simulation is synthetically demonstrated through comparing of design parameters and simulation data. The results prove that the fidelity of simulation system achieved design requirement. The dynamical character and control effect, for the example of pressure splitter control and level-flow cascade control, were analyzed, which show that the simulation system can be used to assist the realistic production;The simulation system has been finished by using advanced method with more logical architecture. The simulated process is similar with real plant process and the diverse running statuses of unit are matchable with the real. The system is open to user for secondary development. The technical engineer can use it to train the operators to improve their skills on the operation of starting up, normal running, shutting down and critical situation treating etc. The application of simulation system has been recognized by the clients.
