Process management (PM) is implemented by many enterprises in order to win the competing privilege currently. But the rate of failure in PM is remains remarkably high. The main reason for this phenomenon is short of effective Support Software System and/or evaluation tool/method for PM. So, it has been a hot topic in PM area to find/develop Support Software System and/or an effective analysis and evaluation method/tool, which can be used to enhance chances of success in PM implementation. Process simulation, as a new technology, is an ideal tool to support PM/ with which the chances of success in PM implementation can be enhanced. However, despite the theory of simulation is perfect relatively, process simulation has not to date received the theoretical and methodological support needed to establish it as a separate research area. Process simulation is just beginning at home. So, the research on processes simulation has the strong meaning at theory and reality aspect. This dissertation, which supported by National Nature Science Foundation of China (NO.70071029) and scientific plan of zhejiang province (No.011106241), researches on the fundamentals of processes simulation firstly. Then the key technologies encountered in process simulation modeling are researched. Finally, the software prototype of process simulation is developed. The dissertation contains five chapters:In chapter 1, the research background and process management/simulation technology are firstly discussed, and the necessity and characteristic of process simulation are analyzed. Then, the technology of current process simulation modeling is reviewed. Some emphasis problems and disadvantages existed in process simulation modeling is summarized in the meanwhile. Finally, the research contents, significance and technological rotes of the dissertation are expanded, with which followed a brief introduction to the dissertation's architecture. In chapter 2, the primary theories of process simulation are researched. The basis concept of process structure model and simulation model are given firstly combined with the case. Then Monte-Carlo simulation, the thinking foundation of process simulation is introduced. Finally, simulation strategies based on event-driven process simulation are researched. Simulation strategy adopted in process simulation system is confirmed, according to the process and the process simulation's characteristic. In chapter 3, the theory of process simulation modeling is investigated. Firstly, the theory foundation of formalism simulation modeling is introduced. Then, non-formalism mapping of process is complete with event-driven process simulation mechanism. Finally, based onnon-formalism mapping of process, formalism process simulation model is set up by application of formalism simulation modeling theories and system specifications. By this means, model manipulation capabilities are enhanced in the course of using Discrete Event Simulation -based (DES) approaches. In chapter 4, development of process simulation based on event-driven system is investigated. Combined with process management integrated support software system (PMIS3), the system architectures are firstly proposed. Then, the system analyses and design of process simulation are completed based on object-oriented technology. Finally, Process Simulation software is developed and applied in customs order process. In chapter 5, the main research results of this dissertation are summed up. Furthermore, some viewpoints related to the future research are put forward.
