The arrival of the image-reading era has made great changes to our communication manner and resource pattern, and prompted the prosperity of image culture, thus raising image education in colleges to a higher level. By referring to materials, questionnaire investigation as well as interview with teachers and students, the dissertation analyses the present situation of image education in colleges in an objective and concrete way to find out the fact that the current image education in colleges does not work well enough so as to handle the new requirements and challenges. Aiming at the students whose majors are not image related, the dissertation redefines "image education" and explains its new concept.New media, which is closely connected with image culture, brings both challenges and opportunities to image education. With the characteristics of simple cooperation, convenient management as well as its powerful history-compare function, WIKI has opened up a new era for image education.The dissertation, integrating WIKI and image education together in a creative manner, proposes two models of image education in colleges through the use of WIKI-knowledge-building model and communities-strutting model. The two modelsare used into the actual process of instruction along with the WIKI community on image culture. A-month long experiment was acclaimed by both teachers and students, while the students' image literacy was also improved, which proves that the two models have provided feasible and effective ways to implement image education in colleges.
