Mobile Multicast Based On MLD Proxy Design And Implement

As the increasing application of multicast, the research on multicast is more and more concerned. On the other hand, mobile devices have been permeated quickly, and Wireless Network technology has got great development in the recent years. As a result, more attention has been paid to how to provide better support for mobile hosts. As the strong expansibility and highly effective character of multicast application seems more significant in mobile IP whose environment is resource limited, mobile multicast causes more and more recognition and mass research.The main job in this paper is part of the CNGI project "the amalgamation network of Internet and mobile communication based on MIPv6". On analysis at mobile IP and multicast protocols this paper designs and implements a scheme to realize multicast service in mobile IPv6 environment, which is called MLD Proxy. MLD Proxy is a simplifying scheme for mobile multicast. This scheme can be connected with MIPv6 and simplify mobile multicast benefiting from the concision of MLD protocol. Running MLD Proxy software on edge router, we can ignore the protocol running on the core router, on the other hand, we don't have to run PIM-SM, which leads to the decreasing overhead. This makes the scheme great sense.
