On the basis of existing condition monitoring systems, the architecture of the distributed condition monitoring system and key issues in its realization are studied in this paper with respect to the characteristics of distributed system. The distributed condition monitoring system is made up of upstream computer system, downstream computer system and local area network. The upstream computer system is build on Linux operating system (OS) and realized by C language. The downstream computer system is build on Win2000 Server operating system (OS), it has a friendly interface. The device drive technology in Linux operating system is discussed in this paper. Due to its operating on Data Acquisition Card, the speed signal, vibrating signal and non-vibrating signal can be get accurately and duly. Besides, the multi-thread technology validates the synchronization of data acquiring, data saving and data transferring. The key issues in network communication are studied in the paper. On the basis of sufficient utilization of network resource, the real-time and reliability of network communication are achieved together with integrality of data transmission, which improve the system expansibility and stability. Finally, as an example, the distributed condition monitoring system is applied to rotor test-bed condition monitoring. The result shows the system is effective and feasible.
