The purpose of this paper is the development of fan operation status monitoringsystem based on embedded technology, real-time display of parameters on each stateof the fan, diagnosis and early warning of the abnormal state. The monitoringparameters of the fan running state include stator temperature, the temperature of themotor bearings and fan bearings, fan vibration, fan vacuum, and current and voltagesignals of the motor. The system can alarm real-time in the abnormal states of fan’srunning, and alarm records can be stored. According to the characteristics andfunctional requirements of the fan operation status monitoring system based onembedded technology, the system is designed to five-story model including thehardware layer, guide layer, kernel layer, UI layer, application layer. And hardwareand software system have a modular design.In the design of hardware acquisition unit, the fan state parameters acquisitionunit consists of sensors and intelligent instruments, all types of smart meters supportthe RS-485bus communication. RS-485/232converter connects the acquisition unitand embedded system platforms. In order to achieve real-time monitoring ofmulti-state parameters, the system uses MODBUS protocol for data communications.Each module hardware circuit is designed and their driver programs are developedand the embedded hardware platform is constructed which consists of thecommunication module, human-computer interaction module, audio module and SDcard memory module and so on. The modules are combined organically and the goodfunction of the hardware platform is achieved.The ARM9-Linux architecture is used in the system. By means of cross compilerthe purpose of program developing on the PC host and running on the target machineis achieved. The state parameters of the fan display real-time on LCD touch screenand abnormal state of the fan is alarmed by sound and light and the unusual locationand status of fan are also alarmed real-time. The graphical user interface is developed based on the Qt graphical application framework and the real-time condition curve ofthe relevant state parameters are drawn using embedded Qwt extension library. Thesoftware system manages the fan running status and data by calling SQLite opensource database. These data are stored timing by*. txt file format to SD card for spareof the fan status analysis and fault diagnosis.This system has the characteristics of real-time, accuracy and stability and it canensure the safe operation of the fan.
