The Research On Process-based Software Configuration Management Model

Along with the unceasing expansion of software scale, software development management becomes more and more important for enhancing software development efficiency and software product quality. The core of software development management is effective software configuration management. Software configuration management is a kind of technology for marking, organization and change control, the goal is causes the software development to be controlled, error of the software to be possible to be tracked, and enhances the production efficiency. It is the cornerstone of software development and maintenance, and also is a key for software quality assurance.At the beginning of this thesis, software configuration management's present situations are presented. And then the basic concept, the goal and the significance of software configuration management got introduced. After analyzed the present situation of software configuration management, a new model which based on process is proposed. Since present most of the software configuration management systems take the edition control as a core, neglect process support, this thesis emphasizes the design and realization of the process support function in software configuration management system. For highlights the process support characteristic, this model introduces the concept of software process configuration. The entire model is divided three modules: user configuration management module, software process configuration management module and software product configuration management module. Meanwhile, the model could provide three levels of the configuration management views: company level, project level and development level. This thesis described and designed the model by each module and level. Finally, based on this model, utilizing Java, Oracle database tool and other development technologies, one software configuration management system based on process is realized.
