The Study And Application Of Software Development Process Supporting Software Configuration Management

With the development of software technology, the requirements of software projects become more complicated and change more frequently. In such a case, team becomes the main work module; nothing could be success depending on only one person. We must find a good method to organize so many people in order to reach a common purpose.The software configuration management (SCM) focuses on the process of developing software, including control management, process management, and audit management, statistics management. So we could make the software development work be more collaborative by SCM.The basic theory of SCM has become maturity comparatively,but when we meet a specific project, none of the existing theories could tell us how to make a useful SCM plan and carry it out, we always feel it is too difficult to practice SCM. In this paper, we combine the SCM theory with common software development process; present a new process module ( SCM&SDP) that supports SCM. We also use SCM&SDP to develop scientific and technological planning project management system. According the character of that project, we make a SCM plan based on the theory of change sets. The management consists of three layers: project-layer, task-layer and woke space-layer. The main functions of the model are to manage the versions and control the changes of CMI. The application result shows that this module is practical and efficient, it improves the development teams' ability of collaboration and the quality of software products.
