The Tang Dynasty Epitaphs is a kind of special document, it has great values on the research of society, history, culture, language, character usage condition in the Tang Dynasty. Owing to the restriction of its characteristics: the multiple writing style of the rubbings; the numerous folk form of character; a great deal of using literary quotation ,and so on. As a result, the compilation of the Tang Dynasty Epitaphs can not record the original condition of the epitaphs veritably to some extent, thus causing the wrong words in the text . In order to quicken the further studies in the academic circles and makes use of the epitaphs conveniencely, Based on the compilation and sequel of the Tang Dynasty Epitaphs which is compiled by Zhou Shaoliang, the thesis summarizes some rules to recognizes and collates the epitaphs correctly through thorough proofreading. This thesis focus on making the careful and detailed analysis about the folk form of character. The main research method is to compare the rubbings with the records. The thesis aims at promoting the thorough researches and applications in the Tang Dynasty Epitaphs, at the same time, promoting the collations of the Tang Dynasty Epitaphs as far as possible.The framework of this thesis is as follows:Chapter 1: Foreword. Summarize the present research condition and the stone tablet writing style.Chapter 2: The collations of the Tang Dynasty Epitaphs in the character materials .The author points out the shortage in the record principle and puts forward some research methods.Chapter 3: Analyse the character mistake reasons in the Tang Dynasty Epitaphs. It is a principal part. The author mainly induce the reason by analyzing some concrete language materials mistake, so as to appears actual maneuverability in the collations.
