Production line control system is the core of the Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), an important system for the electronic line production enterprise to improve the productivity and quality. This paper introduced the design and development of the product line control system for an automotive electronic manufacture enterprise. The main function of the system is monitoring product line equipments in real-time. It collects and disposes the data related to the manufacturing process, and saves these data in a real-time database for further process. This system has many practical functions such as: equipment mode control, equipment initialize control, material status track,data collection, management warning and equipment state management. The main features of the system are accessing data efficiently and securied.The design of framwork architecture in this production line control system consists of three layers. Namely,they are presentation layer, function layer and data layer. The presentation layer is an interface with manufacturing and equipment, and can be operated via touch screen PC. In the PC the cell application program provides the user interface. Those cell applicatons target at gathering the manufacturing data and implementing the routing control. The function layer is comprised of CELLworks programs run on UNIX server and in the memory of Real-Time Database (RTDB). They provide the engine service and implement the line control business logic. The Oracle database is the data layer, stores the historical data of the manufacturing process.The system architecture design using the three layers structure makes the complex equipment control more transparent. In the meantime, each module has a clearly defined task and easy to be implemented. The system can be integrated with other applications by its common interface, and also system structure has the advantage of highly reuseability.
