An excitation control system is one of the main control methods of generator, which influences the stability and dynamic quality of power systems. Not only the core chip of excitation controller is developing with the automation of a power system, but also the advanced communication function of the excitation controller is demanded more urgently. It is hoped that the communication interface is easily installed and used to debug an excitation controller for field engineers. At the same time, the supervision function should be realized by this interface. According the requirements mentioned above, this paper studies the application of USB(Universal Serial Bus) in an excitation controller based on DSP(Digital signal Processor).Firstly, we discuss the development of Excitation control technology and it's communication technology synthetically, then summarize it's limitation,which is the reason why we put forward a new design with DSP plus USB. At body part of this paper, we have studied the exhaustive blueprint and it's realization, including the hardware design and firmware design of field equipment, we also studies the main methods of software development of upper PC. The three points mentioned above cover many technological pointes, and one difficulty is how to meet the communication demands of USB, meanwhile the time consumed on data collection and procession is the least. The structure of"DSP + Dual ports RAM + MCU"is adopted after comparison.This paper not only studies the design technology of USB, but also gives a complete research of USB interface for an excitation control system based on DSP. The technology discussed in the paper may be useful for other development of USB interface. |
