The application of high speed data storage technology relates to all areas of the electronic, communication, and data acquisition. Along with the continuous development and progress of the electronic technology and the social life. It is difficult for the traditional data storage technology to meet the current requirements of the high-speed storage. SATA technology is the research focus and the main storage hard disk interface, which has the advantages in storage rate and extensible ability. Aiming at the problem of high speed and large capacity data storage, the study on SATA interface dual-drive control technology has important significance.First of all, the SATA protocol was analyzed, including the function, design principle of the physical layer, link layer, transport layer, application layer and the key modules. It laid the theoretical foundation for the subsequent designs.Then, based on the understanding of the physical and link layer theory, the design and implementation of physical layer, link layer of the SATA intellectual property core and its internal function module were researched. The physical layer reference clock module, the GTX module, the initialization state machine, data transceiver module was designed to complete the communication with the slave and the data transmission, status signal between the physical layer and the link layer. The link layer send frame, receive frame state machine, cyclic redundancy check module, scrambling module was designed to control the frame data transceiver. The Xilinx XC7K325T FPGA was selected as the main chip according to the performance demands. The hardware was designed including the clock module, reset module, SATA interface and the pre-emphasis module to implement two kinds of SATA link connection scheme. The dual-drive control module was designed to meet the requirement of high-capacity design which improves the data rate and the storage capacity. As a result, the overall designe scheme was achieved.Finally, the controller and the hardware platform was tested and verified through ChipScope debugging software and the SATA interface test logic. The results demonstrate that the dual-drive SATA interface control module functions well, which completes the access operations of continuous address accurately, with the data rates higher than 300MB/s, and meets the demands of high-speed and large capacity data storage system. In a word, It has a certain value of promotional and application.
