TCSC operation characteristics in steady state is analyzed in details in this paper, theory of resonance caused by TCSC thyristor out of control which occurred under specific conditions is presented; according to the difference of capacitor voltage waveform, inductive regulation mode is divided into two types: normal inductive regulation mode and deep inductive regulation mode; The boundary conditions when thyristor out of control under two modes are presented.The design scheme of TCSC experimental modal that implement fire angle control of bottom layer is presented, by use of it can prove the result of this paper. The case of TCSC thyristor out of control is testified by digital simulation and experiments. At last, several principles of TCSC reactance selection are presented according to the different objective; these principles have some instructive meaning in TCSC planning and design.
