In recent years, electromagnetic technology has been widely applied in communication,detection, navigation and other major areas. As a bridge of energy conversion wirelesscommunication system, antenna has the absolute influence on the whole system. Alongwith the application in military and civilian field continues to expand, antenna designrequirements are also put forward higher, such as wider bandwidth, higher gain, smallersize, more suitable3dB beam width etc. Radar system puts forward the requirements ofcarrier conformal and the unique direction map of end-fire antenna can meet thisrequirements. In the wide angle scanning end-fire array, the broadening of each unit’s3dBbeam width are the necessary condition of broadening the array’s sweeping angle. Withcontinuous expansion of the system, it often needs to keep working in multiple frequencybands. The use of broadband antenna greatly reduces the system complexity and meets therequirement of wideband radar. Therefore, from the point of space covering and frequencycovering, designing novel wide-angle coverage wide-band end-fire architecture is veryimportant.Based on the research of tapered slot antenna and Yagi antenna, after in-deep research,combining wide angle and wideband technology, novel end-fire structures of wide anglecoverage with broadband are designed.This thesis introduces the basic knowledge of the end-fire antenna, summarizes severalmethods of designing broadband and wide angle antenna, select the tapered slot antennaand Yagi antenna as the research object.For the tapered slot antenna, starting from the basic principle, each design parametersof straight line tapered slot antenna effecting on wide angle broadband properties has beendetailed discussed. After that, the tapered slot antenna with a particular stop band isanalyzed and given a general method. Finally, an end-fire straight line tapered slot antennawith3-10GHz bandwidth covering and107°H plane beam wide is designed. Then threekinds of broadband wide-angle end-fire antenna with particular stop band are designed, andthe actual measurement results and data analysis have been given.For Yagi antenna, starting from the traditional metal cylinder type Yagi antenna designprinciple, the technology of its planarity with different feed methods has been detailed discussed. A center frequency of8.5GHz, the gain larger than7dB, the impedancebandwidth of nearly50%, the E field3dB beam width of84degrees, the H field3dB beamwidth nearly100degree’s broadband wide-angle end-fire antenna has been designed. At therequest of a certain size and gain conditions, two kinds of miniature high gain planar Yagiantenna has been proposed and given the analysis of the actual measurement results anddata.
