Research On SMS-based Academic Information Publishing Platform

The academic activities develop vigorously in universities and colleges. Students are eager to be informed timely and know the latest academic lecture both on their own campus and others. Nowadays, most schools still use Website or traditional chalkboard as publishing platform. The regional restriction and lapse of time cause students to miss lecture and instructional resource not fully used. As most of students own cell phones now, I develop this SMS-based publishing platform. My aim is to improve existing condition and campus information technology.Firstly, I introduce SMS and information public/query platform. After analyze the current status of informationazation in colleges, I compare traditional IPP with SMS-based one. In the following parts, I present the system structure chart, the major technique of GMS and SMS, coding and decoding of SMS, serial communication and database connection. After carrying through blue print and demand analysis, I adopt object-oriented technology and take VS. Net(C#) as well as Access2003 for develop tool. In the last part, I list the data form and function modules. The deficiency and possible space to develop are also be mentioned.With GSM Modem, the SMS platform can provide mobile users to visit database anytime anywhere. The system can basically achieve publication and inquiry. As it proves to be a feasible, convenient and fast IPP, it's worth making more widespread.
