Design Of China Telecom Integrated Short Message Service System

SMS (Short Message Service), the first mobile digital service in mobile network, has brought operators a lot of profits. As the biggest fixed phone operator in China, China Telecom has its fixed network SMS business one of the most important services. 3G (the Third Generation Mobile Telecommunication) and its SMS will undoubtedly bring new challenge and opportunity to it.First of all, this thesis gives a brief introduction of the Integrated Short Message Service System, international and native standards about the SMS and the market share of device manufacturers. After that, it analyses the detailed requirements from China Telecom, including device function, billing, inter-working and performance. Then it makes general specifications of target system such as network structure, SMSC (Short Message Service Center) modular function, SMS SAG (Short Message Service Access Gateway) modular function, interface protocol design and service flow design. Finally, the testing is executed for verification of requirements and specifications.The results will be the foundation of service enabler estimation when China Telecom constructs its 3G mobile digital service network. It will significantly influence future mobile digital services of China Telecom.
