To meet the need of partial war under high technology condition, the troops construction should adopt the informationization way. As a communication platform for various communication systems, the military communication network is the core of integral construction, which plays a prominent part in the military informationizaton construction. This topic aims at building an Ad Hoc military communication network model, reflecting it on OPNET network simulation platform, obtaining the performance data after OPNET simulation and providing a theory support for the usage and development of Ad Hoc network in military action. After analysis, comparison and evaluation of these parameters, theoretical support is provided for the use and development of Ad Hoc network in military actions. On basis of this, according to the development tendency of military communication network in modern wars, a special network with the mobility function is designed, focusing on the description of the topology design and track definition. By analyzing related parameters in simulation, a theory instruction for the design of mobile Ad Hoc network is provided. This paper also gives a detailed description of the present condition, characteristics and the development trend of the military communication network. It stresses on the definition of Ad Hoc network, its main characteristics, applied situation, typical application, important protocols, technology obstacles, research results and so on. OPNET network simulation platform, characteristics, basic steps, techniques of setting up models and HLA are also presented, which makes a foundation for the application of OPNET software in military communication network simulation.
