China is one of the worst natural disasters state in the world. Natural disasters often lead to paralysis of the civilian communications facilities so that it is difficult to carry out the relief and rescue work. As a result, the military is urgent to build a set of disaster relief communication network. On the communication network the rescue and disaster relief departments can share the information. The communication platform can provide the necessary information services for disaster relief military, local government and the people in disaster areas.The technology of network simulation is an important means to study the communication network. The technology gets the information of the prototype by study the model. So, it can offer impersonal and credible data for the programming and designing of the communication network. It can enhance the rationality of decision-making, and reduce the risk to investment, and Shorten the construction period.The thesis has an introduction of the conception, characteristic and the process of simulation, focuse on OPNET modeling process and requirements. By investigating the architecture of military communication network under the high-tech conditions, put forward the design of the disaster relief communication network in military, this dissertation refines a topology of a real layered military communication network which contains its main characters, and reflects it to OPNET simulation console by manufacturing, processing, abstracting and condensing, absorbing its advantages and discarding its disadvantages, and establish the network model on the OPNET software platform, then run the simulation, gather statistics and analyze results. By simulating, we get the result of the system's communication capability, and find the improved way.The study of the thesis has great importance for the constitution of the disaster relief communication network, and establishes a foundation for further study.
