Research On Integrated Highway Tunnel Monitoring System

The management level, operational environment and service standard are largely depended on the safety and reliability of tunnel monitoring system, reaction time of the system to emergencies (tunnel fire, passenger suffocation caused by high CO level, vehicle rear collision caused by poor visibility, traffic jam, etc.), judgment correctness and process efficiency.The functions of highway tunnel monitoring system are deeply studied in detail, considering its operational characteristics and monitoring requirements. Based on related highway tunnel monitoring system design specifications and system functional configurations, tunnel monitoring system can be divided into seven subsystems. These subsystems include ventilation management and control subsystem, illumination supervision and control subsystem, traffic detection and guidance subsystem, closed-circuit TV monitoring subsystem, etc. All above are investigated in this article. Through studies on system integration, function integration and information integration of tunnel monitoring system, with advanced control algorithms and equipments, tunnel environment and traffic parameters detection accuracy is improved, distributed management&control modules are synthesized and tunnel operations are secured. The intelligence of tunnel monitoring system is enhanced by expert system supported control plan automatic generation which is enabled by combining real-time data and historical experimental knowledge.
