Because rotating machinery is one of the key equipment of modern facilities, the failure and fault of it will cause grave consequences and great economic losses, even lead to evil influence on society. Virtual instrument is to establish a testing & control system based on computer software and hardware platform. LabVIEW, which is designed for measurement applications, is a representative of virtual instrument languages.This system consists of two parts, part one is data acquisition, part two is data processing & control, its main functions contain: data simulation/ acquisition, dynamic displaying, real-time monitoring, data processing, data saving and rotate speed control. It is developed base on LabVIEW 7.0 Express.Part one consists of PCI9118 board and closed loop controller, PCI9118 board is used for sampling vibration information. Controller, which uses PID algorithm to control the rotor speed, can communicate with part two.Part two consists of data processing and control. Data processing part can acquire vibration signal from the A/D card, or simulate signals of 16 channels. Then data is processed and displayed dynamically, and the processing methods contain: time domain waveform, spectrum analysis, power spectrum analysis, waterfall display and etc. The processing parameters, which are regulated real-time to get better result, include window function, filter parameters and so on. Control part can communicate with controller by serial port. It can not only acquire rotate speed and current data, but also send out commands. Commands contain starting up & shutting up the controller, resetting rotate speed, modifying PID parameters——KP, Ti, Td.At last, this condition monitoring system is applied to rotor test-bed condition monitoring and analyzing a fault of industrial site. The results show the system works well.
