How to make efficient use of radio frequency resource and improve frequency bandwidth efficiency of digital communication is a hotspot in modern digital communication research field. UNB (Ultra Narrow Band) communication is such a technique that is able to provide extremely high frequency bandwidth efficiency up to 100bps/Hz. Prof. Wu Lenan proposed VWDK (Very-minimum Waveform Diffrence Keying) modulation with his cooperator for the UNB communication. A UNB wireless transceiver using the VWDK modulation is developed, in order to verify the performance and feasibility of this communication technique.A design and implementation of UNB wireless transceiver based on digital signal processor (DSP) is described in the paper. This apparatus uses a high performance floating-point DSP to implement VWDK communication processing arithmetic and data transfer protocol, accomplished UNB bi-direction wireless communication. The data transfer between ADC, DAC and DSP chip is implemented using EDMA controller in DSP. A CPLD chip is used to generate control signals for data acquisition and transmission. A PC software is developed to implement wireless transceiver communication control, status monitor and data terminal. At present, this prototype has been designed, assembled and tested.This paper introduces the VWDK communication technique briefly at first, then discusses the design of three UNB wireless transceiver simulation system implemented by Matlab, C++ and a DSP evaluation board. The working principle, DSP program and PC software design of the UNB wireless transceiver is described. Finally this paper presents the result of system design and some improvement advice.
