The function of conventional transceiver is not flexible enough and the expansibility is also not very well, which limit the development of the wireless communication. With the emergency of the software defined radio (SDR), the conception of the transceiver has been completely changed. The main idea of the technology of SDR is to design a universal hardware platform, on which different functions are implemented by upgrading and reconfiguring the software.Based on the basic theories of SDR, a design of IF-digitizing software defined radio receiver with digital down converter (DDC)—HSP50214BVC and digital signal processor (DSP)—TMS320VC5402 is brought out in this thesis. The hardware architecture of A/D sampling module, IF digital signal processing module, baseband signal processing module, USB2.0 interface, and the software design flow of DSP, CPLD, and USB firmware are described in detail. The use of DDC greatly simplifies the design of the system, and makes the platform work reliable. The"Plug and Play"feature of the USB interface is very convenient for the user to collect data for processing. And the high data rate of the interface can meet the real time require of the system. Totally, the design in this thesis can implement the functions of SDR. It is a flexible platform with good reconfiguration feature and practicability.
