During the course of development and manufacturing of communication equipments, radars, broadcast equipments, microwave components and medical equipments, analyzing of signals in frequency domain is often needed, and various parameters testing, such as frequency and power of RF(radio frequency) signals, modulation index, and distortion index of demodulated audio signals are also required. To meet the application demands, Communication Signal Analyzer (CSA) contains five functions: spectrum analyzer, frequency meter, power meter, modulation index analyzer, and audio signal analyzer.CSA is based on software radio architecture, and its hardware contains RF downconverter module and IF (intermediate frequency) digitalization processing module. High-performance fixed-point DSP of Texas Instrument: TMS320C6416 is chosen.The main work includes:Comprehend the design scheme of CSA, understand the interfaces and functions of DSP in CSA. Choose and simulate various algorithms based on defined performances and precision. Design communication protocols between DSP and PCI host, DSP and FPGA. Complete developing and debugging the software of DSP, and validate its accuracy and stabilization in the system. Optimize the metrical results based on the hardware performances. Develop the bootloader program to achieve the loading and running automatically after being powered on.CSA achieves expectant five functions, it can reach all the defined performances and precision, which are tested in 402 metric station of Ministry of Information Industry. As the core processor, DSP integrates plentiful algorithms, and its hardware resource is made use of efficiently and fully to achieve various functions. CSA has friendly GUI(graphic user interface), and it extends application of virtual instrument to analyzing of RF signals up to 3 GHz, also it meets the demands of high performances, operating easily, small cubage, and low power consumed.
