The appearance of Software Radio technology is the third revolution in the communication domain after the developments from immobile communication to mobile communication and from analog communication to digital communication. It can meet the need of the mobile user to join by make full use of the modern micro-electronics technology, digital communication technology and software technology. It is of great theoretical significance to build a Software Radio hardware platform, which is also supposed to have much practicability.The general situation of the software radio and one of its key technologies: digital IF is introduced in this paper. And based on the theory, designs and actualizes a hardware experiment platform, then the hardware and software debug is described in detail. The platform mainly includes a large-scale programmable logic device Virtex-4, two high performance fixed-point digital signal processors TMS320C6416 and TMS320C6414, and an ARM with a core of ARM7TDMI, with the feature universality and flexibility. It can configure the parameters of digital up/down conversion, baseband signal code/decode mode and modulate/demodulate mode with software update, fulfill the needs of various research projects.
