It is significant for automatic control of sluice-group to utilize water resource rationally, which is also a huge demanding field latest years. But the research of it, especially the practical applications are still just beginning. This situation has restricted the development of water conservancy badly.The project background of this paper is sluice-group automatic control system for irrigation channel project in Sichuan province Xinjin contry Tongjiyan irrigation area. The system consists of 22 sluice which are grouped three groups, one group is for flood discharge, one is for rush sand, and the other is for water imported. It is responsible for preventing flood, irrigation, life water supplying everyday. So, this paper compares advantages and disadvantages of several sluice-group control systems recent years, then integrates well-applied technologies in modern industrial control area, finally constructs a practical sluice-group automatic control system based on distributed PLC. The constructed system is more intelligent, more stable, easier to expand and some redundancies than traditional system.The practical sluice-group automatic control system adopts Siemens S7 series PLC to control in local, ProfiBus-DP Fieldbus and Wincc configuration software to establish advanced control network. Combining periphery information collection system, application software and additional control devices, a competent sluice- group automatic control system is done.
