MSTP is a solution for the Multi-Service access of nodes at the edge of network, which is gradually formed with the development of Metropolitan Area Optical Network. The requirements of services and the support of techniques mainly drive the development of MSTP, and the capability of interface to different protocols and channels is the marked characteristics of MSTP. MSTP based on next-generation SDH holds the main degree of all the resolutions, which provides excellent support to MAN. But, as an universal platform, it can not thoroughly satisfies all kinds of requirements of users. First, the direct interface to specified sub-channel in a converged signal is impossible. Second, the dispose of non-standard protocols is not supported. So, to the question of dense channelization of converged SDH signal and modularized dispose of multi-protocol in a specified application, an architecture of Multi-Protocol Transmission Technique with Dense Channels(DC-MPTT) is brought forward in this thesis. The network structure, the hierarchy of system and protocol, and the logical structure of system are thoroughly researched and discussed. Especially, three key techniques, which are dense channelization, dispose of multi-protocols and independence of channels, are in-depthly researched. In a project of remote monitor network, with the mature commercial chips of the channelization of SDH signal and some necessary design of FPGA, a device with 155Mbps capacity is designed and implemented, which satisfies the requirements of application and proves the value of practicality.
