In resent years, Metropolitan Area Network technology has developed very rapidly. With improving traditional technology and emerging new technologies, Metropolitan Area Network technology is in the development of integrated and intelligent direction. Compared to the traditional Metropolitan transport network technology represented by SDH, MSTP, ASON, and other new technology and equipment under the metro transport network will be positioned as a more intelligent and have the end-to-end network management capabilities of the Multi-Service Transport Platform. Beijing Netcom’s new intelligent broadband integrated services network will provide a good channel to send and gradually transfer from transmission network to business network evolution for high quality requirements of the business.Beijing Unicorn’s current MSTP transmission network has taken shape, but there is much space to explore for its specific application methods, network layout, the user access mode and the future direction of development. Based on this situation, the paper will discuss in depth on the application solution of MSTP technology in transmission networks. The paper focuses on the analysis of MSTP business type, application mode, MSTP development of new technologies and configuration specification of multi-vendor devices MSTP Ethernet Private Line service. It provides instructions of application solution about Ethernet-based NGN network, IPTV services and3G networks. In this paper, for different user needs, network applications and Ethernet traffic patterns, the author analyzed the Ethernet data transmission for a wide range of program and studied on the application of a reasonable model, with a view to achieve the user’s actual requirements, designed to provide point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, point to a line of Internet programs.
