It is a common problem for make-to-stock manufacturer that how to response to customer's need quickly, and at the same time, improve productivity and reduce cost. This thesis discusses how to embed JIT into MRP - combine the information integration and planning capabilities of MPR with quick response of a JIT kanban system and bring forward KB plant's hybrid production planning and control system that utilize the strong information integration and planning capabilities to forecast the capacity and material requirement, and set up each kind of parameters for JIT production, then drive the pull production by using JIT shop floor operation optimization method and minimize inventories of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.The framework of this thesis:The first chapter presents two major production planning and control system of supply chain companies: MRP– push model and JIT- pull model and their major advantages and disadvantages.The second chapter introduces the operation of K Company and KB plant.The third chapter analyzes original production planning and control system of KB plant and find out existing problems.The forth chapter shows how KB plant utilize JIT technique to improve many functions of supply chain management.The fifth chapter describes the new production planning and control system of KB plant, and presents the significant improvement.The sixth chapter summarizes the major step of new system implementation and further improvement direction.
